Vikrant Sahdev : Persistence Is My Prayer
A lot of people aspire to work in the glitzy, glamorous world of Film and TV. When Vikrant Sahdev, started on his journey to be a working actor, his goal was not glamor but the goods. And by goods, he means the work he will get to do to satisfy his inner artist. What inspired him while growing up and watching his favorite actors on screen was the emotional and personal connection, they’re able to elicit through their superb performances. This connection was not just a raw charisma barring handful of actors who’re gifted that way, but it was intentional and brought over because of years of those actor’s learning, practicing, and working on their craft.
A change from his former secure career in technology to learn the craft and become an actor was a huge and tough decision. The stakes were way too high, but Vikrant knew if you don’t believe in your dreams, nobody would. He knew the journey of a million miles, hurdles and hardships would lie ahead. He also understood, to become a good actor will take hard-work, persistence, and have a “keep showing up and keep doing your work” attitude. And judging from some of his recent achievements in both Film and TV, it’s clear he has been putting in a lot of work.
Earlier in 2016, he bagged his first TV commercial and worked with the very respectable Madison McQueen production company in Los Angeles. The ad company, Madison McQueen has run major ad campaigns and is the same company who produced a top Super Bowl ad in 2013.
Then in early 2018, Vikrant got his first big TV break on CID, an immensely popular national TV show in India. He co-starred alongside the veteran actors of the show which aired exclusively on SET (Sony Entertainment TV). The show has always had exceedingly high TRP ratings and is one of the India’s most watched and longest running TV show. CID, the crime investigation series has been on-air since 1998 and has a viewership of over 100 million in India. His episode on SET India’s YouTube channel alone has over 6.9 million views.
In 2019, he was cast in an independent dark comedy film, Buffalo Scientists. The film since its release has earned entries into many respected film festivals. In 2020, it was official entry at Dances With Films (DWF) Festival, a very prominent film festival of Los Angeles. Then again in 2021, the film went on to get further attentions and positive reviews at Die Laughing film Festival, Poor Life Choices Comedy Film Festival and Austin Comedy Film Festival.
Also, in 2020 even when the industry suffered a big hit with the pandemic, Vikrant was able to book one of the lead roles for Audible’s mystery audio drama. The murder mystery, titled Motel Evil has just been released this year on Audible’s US and UK platforms.
From his above recent accomplishments, it is no doubt that Vikrant is on his way to achieve his dreams. For his part, Vikrant has seen so many hardships and rejections in the last 8 years that he remains humble — and he’s finally getting to do what he always dreamt of — to be an actor!
