The Motels Continue Their ‘Totally 80’s Live Winter Tour’ Across The US
Since the early 80’s, The Motels have continued being one of the most iconic new wave bands of the past 40 years. Martha Davis -the glam/rock lead singer (who just celebrated her 69th birthday) proves she still has the voice to die for and she’s not slowing down, anytime soon.
Kicking off the new year in Philadelphia, The Motels began their Totally 80’s Live Winter Tour in January, featuring Bow Wow Wow and When in Rome. I recently had the chance to check out their Atlanta, Georgia show at the Buckhead Theater and once again, the band delivered an epic performance. Some of their setlist included ‘Only The Lonely’, ‘Suddenly Last Summer’, ‘Total Control’, ‘Take The L’ and their most recent songs ‘Punchline’ and ‘Lucky Stars’.
In a world filled with overly saturated, digitally enhanced music, it is refreshing to see such bands like The Motels continue on the legacy of keeping real music alive -proving that true musicianship, quality songwriting and vocals, will always remain at the forefront for musical greatness.
With a talented group of musicians who have been by Martha’s side since the early 2000’s (the lineup includes Clint Walsh, Nicholas Johns, Eric Gardner, Brady Willis and Marty Jourard -the only original member besides Martha) -they are also known as Martha Davis & The Motels.
The band continues their success into the new decade with an incredible 3.4 million streams so far on Spotify in over 79 counties and new music is also on the horizon.
Be sure to catch the The Motels at one of their upcoming shows, which will continue through March this year. You can also grab a copy of their latest album ‘Last Few Beautiful Days ’ available on all formats.
