The 40th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival Celebrates Independent Film at The Arlington Theatre
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival kicked off their annual celebration of independent film at The Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara from February 4–15. This year some of the most talked about films were in the spotlight including Kevin Costner’s U.S. Premiere of Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 2 which was front and center at the festival. Directed, produced and starring Kevin Costner, some of the other cast members included Luke Wilson, Sienna Muller, Sam Worthington, Kathleen Quinlan and others.
Horizon 2 is an American Western based on a screenplay written by Kevin Costner and Jon Baird. When asked about what he loves the most about the SBIFF, Kevin Costner replied that he loves it because it's on his home turf and he is happy to be supported by the festival as an independent filmmaker. Also joining him on the red carpet were his children, who were to cheer him on.
Also, part of the cast is Luke Wilson, who was more than honored to be involved and under the guidance of a film directed by Kevin Costner. When asked about one of his favorite experiences on set, he mentioned having a special friendship with Charm, one of the horses and part of the livestock for the film.
This year’s festival was nothing short of amazing and as always, I look forward to next year’s incredible event and films. For more info and for ways you can get involved with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival visit:
