One of the most incredibly gifted vocalists and songwriters of today, Pia Toscano, recently performed an instagram live concert for her hometown of Howard Beach, Queens -with all proceeds going to the West Hamilton Beach Fire Department, Ambulance Corp and families effected by Covid-19.
As a New Yorker who has never forgotten her roots or where she came from, Pia decided to give back through music, already raising over $4000 through her ‘Hometown Heroes’ concert. The tribute which included songs like ‘I’ll Stand By You’, ‘Rise Up’ and some of Pia’s originals -also featured appearances by some of the doctors and nurses working on the front lines, whom she has become close to. Covid-19 hits even harder for Pia, who recently lost her beloved Nana Jo (R.I.H.P) to the terrible virus, which has already claimed so many lives around the world.
Throughout quarantine and heartbreak, we have seen some amazing stories and artists who have dedicated their time and gratitude to those on the front lines struggling through the pandemic with incomparable bravery. In addition to raising money for her hometown, Pia has also given the opportunity for other artists to showcase their talents with her ‘Couch Concert’ series which has definitely helped in lifting our spirits, during such a difficult time.
Pia, who has been busy on tour the last couple of years with David Foster, Andrea Bocelli and on the Netflix series ‘Westside’ has also given fans a taste of some new music coming in the near future, which we can’t wait for.
Often compared to Celine Dion, with her incredible vocal range, Pia has proven that through hard work and dedication, she has paved her own path through honest talent and courage, which has led her to where she is today. We are so thankful to artists like Pia, who have once again set the bar for others to follow -proving that real music and vocalists have not been lost.
