Franziska Huber is a German actress who is a graduate of the world famous Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. She has performed abroad for many years in musicals, films and stage plays and now she conquers the US with tremendous success. She’s done everything from the sensitive, elderly family retainer and former nurse in Chekov’s Three Sisters and funny, entertaining Officer Welch in Neil Simon’s Rumors to a lead role in the TV movie Venice Beach.
Franziska was nominated for the “Best Production of a Solo Show” Award for her self-written and self-produced one-woman show The Royal Weight Watcher! Sarah Ferguson: A Duchess Hungry for Love! Her performance was called “hilarious and heart-breaking, just phenomenal work” by raving critics.
The film Venice Beach was turned into a series called My Life In Venice Beach and was broadcast via the biggest European network RTL. She had a great time on that series and even got to work with celebrity cameo guest Brian McCoughlin, who is a regular on TV’s popular and audience favorite show Days of Our Lives. Franziska also appeared in the feature film The Devil’s Violinist, which was directed by Bernard Rose and starred the world famous violinist David Garret and another German star Veronica Ferres. Other feature film appearances include Love, Lies and Seeta, which was shown in Cinemax movie theatres all over India, and a dark role in the feature film Private Number alongside of Tom Sizemore. Franziska will appear in another lead role in the feature film The Immigrants starting production in December this year.
Franziska has been in plenty of short films, many of which have received high praise and several awards. Just to name a few: The Plan, Turning Point and One Trick Dieter. Franziska is very excited to work on another short film Hunger filming this fall. She also is lined up for the short film Roomies shooting next year.
What is fascinating about Franziska is that she does not only appear on the big screen, she is still very loyal to the stage which she says is her home and always will be. Besides her numerous TV and Film projects she has a great many theatrical projects coming up. A few shows in which Franziska will perform in one of the lead roles are: Fat Pig (as Helen), Top Girls (as Joyce), Woyzeck (as Marie), MacBeth (Lady MacBeth), Hedda Gabler (as title role Hedda Gabler), The Children’s Hour (as Martha), Dead Man’s Cellphone (as Jean), and Betrayal (as Emma).
She also has been cast in the lead role “Mother Courage” in the upcoming staged readings of Mother Courage and Her Children by Bertolt Brecht. Yes, Franziska is a very busy actress in high demand showing us what diversity means. She will also perform in Brecht’s The Three Penny Opera in which she can not only prove her incredibly versatile acting talent but also move our hearts with her warm and deeply emotional singing voice.
