Renowned video editor, Jose Angel Rubio Alarcon is celebrated for his work with industry leading entertainment companies, Fox Networks, National Geographic Channel, MTV, TNT, Discovery Channel, Disney. His projects feature promotional editing, editing for campaigns, docu-series and feature films, and film trailers.
Born in the Spanish village of San Clemente, Jose’s success has led him to his new base in Los Angeles, California. His passion for storytelling and flare for the arts, drove him to a career in entertainment. Jose’s craft is professionally trained — earning a bachelor’s degree in audiovisual communication, and is highly skilled in advertising copywriting and operating DSLR cameras.
Jose’s credits feature his tenure at Antena 3 Television (one of the most popular TV channels in Spain). As a promotional video editor in the creative and marketing department at FOX Networks, Jose was awarded a Bronze Promax BBDA at the Latin America Contest, and earned several nominations for the European and Global Promax festivals.
Among the highlights of Jose’s career are the creation of trailers and promos for the most successful shows in television history, including the multi-award-winning series, ‘House’, ‘Lost’, ‘Modern Family’ and ‘The Walking Dead’. For National Geographic Channel, as senior promo editor and producer. Jose created global campaigns coordinating with creative teams all around the world, from Washington DC, Portugal, to London, on the hit series, ‘Brain Games’, ‘Cosmos’, ‘DMC Beyond Magic’, and ‘Locked up Abroad’. In his role as an independent contractor working on projects for Disney, Jose developed promotional content for ‘Muppet Babies’, ‘Big Hero 6’, and ‘Duck Tales’.
Jose’s experience is seen across multiple platforms including sports, music and film. His work at Fox Sports produced editorial excellence for the documentary series, ‘Phenoms’, that premiered in 2018 at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival. “It was a project for Fox Sports about young up-and-coming soccer stars that were preparing for one their biggest dreams, which was to play in the 2018 World Cup Soccer. It was a big challenge because I worked with no script… all I had was a bunch of archive videos, some images, 4 hours of interviews, and a B-roll. I focused my work on the story of one of these soccer stars, Marco Asensio, who plays for the Real Madrid.”
Jose Angel Rubio edited the official trailer for the EDC Las Vegas 2017 (Electronic Daisy Carnival Festival) — One of the biggest electronic music festivals celebrated in the United States — video count with more than 1.4 million views. Jose’s collaboration with the YouTube show ‘Mr. Kate’, and YouTuber Alisha Marie earned an impressive more than 3.7 millions of views. In the platform of film, Jose’s work is celebrated in the trailer for the feature film, ‘The Dead Ones.’ The film will premiere in the prestigious Brussels International Film Festival in 2019. Jose is getting ready to edit the trailer for the horror film anthology, ‘The Profane Exhibit’ directed by various genre artists Uwe Boll, Yoshihiro Nishimura, and the Academy Award Nominee Nacho Vigalondo.
Jose Rubio is currently editing as an independent contractor extraordinary content for Disney Junior, Disney Channel, and Disney XD that range from special summer campaigns to launching campaigns for its upcoming shows in 2019.
