Highly Skilled, Multi-Instrumentalist Jake Carmona Continues His Work on Some Incredible Projects

The minute you start reading Jake Carmona’s resumé, you realize that you are in the presence of something that is describing genius and experience. As your eyes scroll down the list of accomplishments and the caliber of musicians and talents, he has worked with you soon get a picture of someone who is not only talented, but someone who is a master at what he does. Jake Carmona is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, producer, recording and mixing engineer with almost 20 year’s experience, and he is arguably one of the most skilled audio editors in the industry.

For the last three years, Jake has been chief recording and mixing engineer at Lazy Eye Records, in Topanga Canyon, the production company owned by Colin Hay, the influential and legendary singer/songwriter from the band Men at Work and his wife, Cecilia Noël. Colin Hay’s upcoming single, “Into My Life,” was recorded, edited and mixed by Jake and he was the producer and engineer on Cecilia’s new album which will be released in May of 2023. He was also a background singer in her band The Wild Clams.

Jake has been around the block, so to speak, and he has worked with a lot of greats in the music industry such as, Charlie Paxson (drums) (Enrique Iglesias, Smash Mouth, Tina Turner, Belinda Carlisle), Jimmy Earl (bass), (Chick Corea, Roben Ford, (Jimmy Kimmel Show), Lenny Castro (percussion) (Eric Clapton, Toto, John Mayer), Toshi Yanagi (guitar) (Jimmy Kimmel Show), Eric Jorgensen (Trombone), (Al Jarreau), Sheila González (Sax), (Zappa Plays Zappa, Men At Work), Luis Eric González (trumpet), (Celia Cruz, Earth Wind & Fire), Melanie Taylor (background singer), (Dionne Warwick, Aerosmith) to name but a few.

He is currently working on Percussion star Luis Conte’s record which is top secret, but it will be a Cuban tribute band with bassist Carlitos del Puerto and Singer/Tres player San Miguel Perez.

Jake has been working with him as an engineer and editor at Luis’ recording studio in Thousand Oaks. Luis has worked with a great many famous musical names also like, Madonna, Dianna Krall, Eagles, Maná, James Taylor, Pat Metheny and many more.

In addition to working on several music projects, Jake recently worked as the music composer/sound designer for the independent short film “Neckline” which has won several awards. We can’t wait to see what’s next on the horizon for this incredibly gifted artist!
