French/Lebanese Film Director Marie Rouhban stays at The Top of Producer’s Lists
Hundreds, if not thousands of hopeful actors, writers and directors come to Hollywood each year. They come to get into the film industry. Most of those new arrivals either move back home to Iowa or start their careers at Burger King, simply because they didn’t have anything to offer the film world and/or they didn’t have the passion and drive to get them where they wanted to be.
Marie Rouhban is a French/Lebanese film director. She certainly has plenty of things to bring to the table. She has several advanced degrees in Economics and Marketing and Strategy, and she has the experience of attending UCLA film school with a focus on directing. She also has boundless energy and is a willing collaborator on film projects. That is, even though she is the director, and she is responsible for overseeing the entire filmmaking process of a project, she strives to create a positive and uplifting atmosphere on set, where everyone feels free to express their creativities.
Marie has only been freelance directing since 2021 and she has already built up a serious body of work. Her drive and skills keep her at the top of producers’ list of directors. There’s good reason for that too. Her attention to detail and her understanding of getting a film shot within budget and on schedule means that Marie is an efficient filmmaker. “Time is money” is a phrase that she easily grasps because of her economics background and her work as a director. Plus, the creativity that she carries with her wherever she goes is a major draw for producers in general.
One of her recently well honored films (and there are many) that was written and directed by Marie Rouhban is Jean à la 13ème place. This film was completed in 2023 and was the Official selection at the Nikon Film Festival. It was also among the 50 finalists of the Sens Critique Prize and ranked 50/2200 films for audience votes. In the last year, Marie has directed six films. Some of her films are classics in that they impressed the audiences immensely with their ability to share and evoke feelings. Her drive and persistence guarantee that projects will be done when and as expected. Her multicultural background has given her a unique perspective, and she is an advocate for diversity in the film industry. Marie is a rare director who is firmly and fully grounded and who brings an uncommon blend of creative and business skills to every project she is on.
