French Cinematographer Extraordinaire Emilie Pesante
Emilie Pesante, the highly accomplished cinematographer and Director from Marseille, France, is set to begin working her magic on season 3 of The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon on Apple TV+. The question that automatically comes to mind, however, is how did this woman from another country get a job, not just any job, mind you, but a very necessary position on one of America’s highly rated money makers for Apple TV+? If it were real estate, the answer would of course be, “Location, Location, Location.” In Emilie’s case the answer would definitely be: “Experience, drive, talent and persistence.” All of which belong to Emilie Pesante in huge amounts.
Emilie was born and raised in Marseille, France, and she moved to Paris at the age of 22 to start her career in cinematography. She worked as a camera operator for numerous reputable French TV channels and companies. One of the companies she worked at was Cinécinéma, (now called Cinéplus). She filmed interviews of actors, directors, and red-carpet events. Gaining Industry recognition rather quickly, Emilie was hired to work on many well-known French TV programs that received record ratings with millions of viewers.
She was also hired as Director of video reports for the TV show CCVB and 100% Mag, which are extremely popular shows and watched by millions of people in France, Belgium and Switzerland. She also covered the Euro Championships or Handball Worldcup and went on to work for some of the biggest TV shows and documentaries in France.
Wanting new challenges, Emilie moved to Sydney, Australia, where she filmed a TV commercial for Greenpeace and Career HQ. She also worked for Edge, a content marketing and digital agency as a Camera Operator/Editor, and for Coptercam as an Aerial Photographer. She also did camera work covering the last French presidential election for the prestigious news channel SBS Australia. Emilie started work as Director on the new series documentary Les Mamans, which aired daily on 6ter and produced by Warner Bros France. This show enjoyed huge success and popularity.
Her vast experience in the industry in Europe and Australia along with the end of the Covid-19 lockdown brought her opportunities to work on shows in the United States such as: You Bet Your Life with Jay Leno, which aired on Fox. She taped 180 episodes on season 1 and 180 more on season 2. She worked on another game show Pictionary, hosted by the actor Jerry O’Connell, whichh also aired on Fox, and she did Celebrity Big Brother, season 3 for CBS. Emilie shot the special When Christmas Comes Around, hosted by Kelly Clarkson for NBC and she also worked on the show Person Place or Thing, with Melissa Peterman.
All of this amazing work by Emilie Pesante brought her to the attention of the producers of The Morning Show, starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, on Apple TV+ where she will begin work shortly on Season 3. Perhaps we should add the word “longevity” to the other attributes we mentioned at the top of this piece. Emilie has shown that she certainly has experience, drive, talent and persistence and that she also has lasting power and endurance.
