His resumé boasts credits for over 45 short films, many of which are doing festival runs and highly praised by film critics. He also has role in an upcoming feature film. He has also had many roles in stage plays, and musicals. He is a very well-educated actor who received a BFA in Stage Acting at the Cours Florent, Paris, France; a diploma in Acting at the world-famous Actor Prepares — The School for Actors, in Mumbai, the most preferred institute for actors in India and across the globe. He also attended the One Year Conservatory in Acting for Film at the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles.
During his time in Paris, Harsh showcased his versatility on the international stage when he performed in Chantiers D’Europe (2019) & the 30th Anniversary of ARTA (Association de Recherche des Traditions de l’Acteur, 2019), in an astounding 7 languages: French, Italian, Spanish, Hausa, Zulu, English & Hindi. One of Harsh’s most recent projects that he was featured in is a short film titled FED. Harsh plays the antagonist, Martin, and the film was directed by Subramanya Kalal, Harsh’s friend and associate. The film was a transformative and immersive journey that pushed the boundaries of Harsh’s acting skills.
Preparing for the role was a meticulous exploration of the character’s psyche, motivations and complexities. Every step, Harsh said, from the initial script reading to the in-depth discussions was a collaborative effort to breathe life into a character that resonated with authenticity. The search for Martin’s inner character extended beyond the pages of the script; it delved into extensive research to understand the psychological nuances that defined him. The collaboration between director and actor fostered a shared understanding of the character’s emotional landscape, which paved the way for a performance that went far beyond the surface of the written page. Physical transformation became a crucial aspect of preparing for Martin’s role. Missy Andria did a fantastic job in giving Martin a face inspired by Leatherface from the renowned Horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Not to intentionally give away any spoilers here, but portraying a cannibal was something that physically and mentally challenged Harsh. He even feasted on raw meat for several days and restricted himself to his room with no food or water for a few days more to feel closer to his character, Martin. The realization that Martin’s story will unfold on the big screen, fueled a sense of responsibility for Harsh to deliver a performance that transcends expectations. His next upcoming independent feature film will be “The Mitch Switch” directed by Roger Roth. Harsh Garg is certainly an actor who gives 110% to every part he plays.
