The psychological drama, written, directed and produced by Romina Schwedler, has been enjoying an intensive festival circuit since February of this year with outstanding reviews as well as multiple awards and nominations both domestic and internationally.

A classic story told from the cleverest angle, The Visit delivers an eventful 12:30 minute journey which kicks off when Ben (Sean Maher) receives an unexpected visit request from his mother, Mrs. Perkins (June Squibb).

This mind-bending tale takes us on an encounter between these two multi-layered characters, which begins with a whimsical exchange and escalates into an unsettling confrontation as the afternoon unfolds, ending with a thought provoking twist that will leave audiences wanting to go back and re-experience the mother-son visit all over again.

The Visit features poignant, award-winning performances by its notable cast: June Squibb, best known for her Oscar Nominated rendition of Kate Grant in Nebraska as well as the memorable role of Helen Schmidt in About Schmidt and her reoccurring appearances in series like Shameless and The Big Bang Theory; Sean Maher, beloved by audiences as Dr. Simon Tam in the popular series Firefly and the film Serenity as well as for his portrayal of Don John in Joss Whedon’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing; Sadie Katz, best recognized for her starring role in 20th Century Fox’s successful horror franchise Wrong Turn 6; and introducing 8 year old talent Dominick Coniglio.

Recent accolades for the film include the Special Prize for Best Actor and Best Actress at FSFF-Florence Short Film Festival, the Audience Choice Award at FSFF and MVIFF-Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival, Best Short Film by a Woman at the Burbank International Film Festival, and the US Short Film Award of Excellence at the Catalina Film Festival.

The Visit is a most extraordinary debut film by the NY based writer/director/actress, showing unmistakable skill, narrative style and attention to detail.

Romina had previously directed 2 award-winning spec commercials through which she had been selected for SHOOT Magazine’s 12th Annual New Directors Showcase as one of the top emerging talents of 2014.

The Visit was filmed entirely on location in NY (Yonkers and Staten Island) and NJ (Jersey City).

The highly-anticipated NY Premiere takes place this Friday Nov 3rd — 6:45pm at SVA Theater as part of the Big Apple Film Festival, with subsequent screenings at the Kansas International Film Festival Nov 5th and Academy Qualifying St. Louis International Film Festival Nov 11th.
