Australia’s Own Margot Robbie Nominated For An Oscar For ‘I, Tonya’

Australian actress and former Neighbours star Margot Robbie, has come a long way from her days on the TV series that catapulted her career to the next level. After leaving her native Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia at only 17, she moved to Melbourne, where she joined the cast of the show from 2008 to 2011.

She later gained successful roles in the US with the drama series Pan Am, then her breakout roles in The Wolf of Wall Street opposite Leonardo di Caprio, and her role in the Suicide Girls playing Harley Quinn. Margot Robbie grew up in a close knit family in Dalby, Queensland on a farm where she learned good values and her consistent down to earth attitude which has set her aside from many others.

Yesterday, she was nominated for her first ever Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Tonya Harding in I, Tonya. Thrilled at the exciting news, Margot received the announcement while surrounded by her family and friends in Australia who were over the moon.

We wish her all the best at the upcoming Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, March 4th.
