Nothing can stop this actress! As we continue to watch Robyn’s journey, we take a further look inside her industry life as she shares some advice and words of wisdom with her audience.

Hi Robyn, since we last spoke, what have you been up to?

I am very excited about moving to LA. It’s been a dream come true finally getting my work visa to be able to live and work in the states. I’m very excited about many opportunities that are coming up and to be able to audition for roles for Film and TV.

What have been some of your favorite moments so far?

A favorite moment would be receiving a life changing response from my Attorney with an approval to enable me to live and work in America as an actress. Life is all about moments, living moment to moment navigating our way through our journey and this was definitely one of the highlights that I will never forget. In an instant my dream since I was a child, turned into a reality.

Also being in the same room surrounded by some of the most inspirational, well known creators (actors , singers, musicians, producers, directors and writers) has been incredible. Having some of the most soulful, grounded conversations with these people, being invited to their houses, exchanging numbers with them -as well as receiving some inspiring advice, really blows my mind because it really has been a dream come true to the say the very least.

What have you learned the the most over the last few years about yourself?

I have learned never to take anything or anyone for granted because in an instant that can change. Self belief is everything. To be successful, you don’t need the approval of others — just believe in YOU and staying true to YOURSELF no matter what, is key. Time is precious, therefore now I am very selective of who I let into my circle and who I surround myself with, as time is something you never get back.

What have been some of the difficult times and how did you overcome it?

There have many difficult times that are hard to even put into words over the past 2 years -as it’s been one big roller coaster ride with many highs and lows. The biggest thing through the darkest times is my resilience, my WHY and my strong vision which enables me to never give up. There have been many times when I wanted to give it up and take the easy road working a 9–5 job, but I am very thankful that I have had close friends/mentors who support and encourage me to keep going.

My spirituality also plays a big part in my positive mindset and turning negative situations into positive ones, as there’s always lessons to be learned out of negative situations. During these dark times, I like to spend some time in isolation, getting to know myself more as feel when I’m aligned (grounded) with myself is when I attract attract good things/good people without even looking for it.

What projects have you been working/focusing on lately and what is coming up next for you?

I’m excited about some projects/audition opportunities that are coming up in LA. The project that I am focusing on is my own film that I am creating which I’m very passionate about. It is something which is so close to my heart, that will resonate with many people while collaborating with some high caliber industry professionals in both Australia and America. I am very excited about starting to raise funds for my film which will most likely be shot in North Carolina with a decent budget, cast and crew.

What would be your best piece of advice be for people just starting out in the industry?

The biggest thing I can advise is stay true to who you are. You have to be willing to take risks and sacrifices, as there is nothing safe about this industry. You have to develop a really thick skin to sustain yourself. Despite people thinking that connections will help, they can only get you so far as you still have to to be prepared to work hard on your craft.

One of the biggest things I have learned is, you are who you surround yourself with. Put yourself out there, it may seem daunting at first but you are as good as anyone else and deserve to be given a chance.

Network, network, network! When I say network, I stopped going to the small events and started putting myself out there by going to bigger events where I knew the right people were. Some of it, well a lot of it was organic, which sounds cliche -but being at the right place at the right time is definitely real in this industry instead of forcing it - allowing the organic process to happen as that is the best form of networking..

This sounds simple but simple isn’t always easy- you have to have a grounded, humbling yet confident manner about you, as industry people can see straight through the desperation and the neediness to book work.

Be authentic. Be real. Be You- Trust the process!
