I just watched Kento Matsunami’s acting reel and it was great. He’s a very talented actor. He’s also a very interesting person. Kento was born in Tokyo, Japan and moved to Los Angeles about three years ago to study English and acting at Santa Monica College. Apparently, he got a lot out of that school because he speaks English beautifully and his acting skills are as honed as a thirty-year stage and screen veteran.

Kento has a very clean and wholesome look but don’t let that fool you into thinking that he can only play nice guys who finish last. That is the last thing you should think of this finely tuned thespian. His reel shows just how much range he has and there is no end to what he can do in front of the camera. Once he enters a characters psyche, Kento becomes that person and everything he does from then on is totally believable as that character. That is the sign of a very mature actor.

Kento also has a sense of humor and his comedic timing is nothing less than superb. I found myself laughing out loud at one of his 30 second scene clips and then he pulled me into the opposite direction when he played a fierce young man who was obviously invincible to his enemies. Those kinds of acting strengths don’t come to people easily. We could say that he was born with all those acting skills but it begs the question: “Are great actors simply born or do they have to develop their artistry?

Well, we’re not going to get into that argument but we might say that Kento is a person who has amazing volumes of talent. We might also say that he might have had a natural inclination toward the performing profession. We also think, however, that he is a hard worker who is willing to make huge sacrifices in time and effort to better himself in his chosen field. And that is what has made him so successful and that is what will propel him to become one of the finest actors in Hollywood.

His very first audition in Los Angeles snagged him the leading role in an independent feature film called: Another Yesterday. He has been in quite a few other films since then and we are not surprised because Kento is at the top of his game.
